Using your Vive with ImmerseMe |
To use ImmerseMe with the HTC Vive, it is important to only use one controller as our current framework cannot distinguish between two separate controllers. For the system to work well in VR mode it is essential you disconnect one of the handheld controllers and continue with just your dominant hand connected. To view the website in VR, first push the System Button located at the bottom of the controller. |
This will bring up a menu that looks similar to the one below. Using this menu select the ‘Desktop View’ button and you will be taken to a direct view of what is seen on your desktop. From here navigate to the Firefox tab and you will be good to go! |
6 |
Select preferred language, lesson and mode |
Now you can control your desktop with the HTC Vive controls, find the language, lesson and mode you would like to experience. Enter the lesson as you normally would on a desktop. Once inside the lesson you should see the VR mode button is no longer opaque. This means that your headset has been registered by the browser and VR mode is available. This can be seen in the image below: |
7 |
Enter VR mode |
To enter VR mode, select this button and you should see the view change immediately to a split view showing what both eyes are seeing as shown below:
8 |
Hide desktop UI and enjoy! |
If this has all loaded correctly, select the System Button again on your controller to hide the system menu and enjoy the experience! FAQ and Common Issues
1 |
Controllers aren't interacting with the scene |
This is an issue that can occur when headsets have multiple controllers interacting with our scene. The current framework we are using does not have support for multiple controllers so we encourage users to turn off one of their controllers and refresh the page. This can be done by holding down the System button until the light on the controller is turned off. The correct button to push is shown in the image below: |
2 |
Microphone or speakers aren't working |
If you find that there are input/output issues with your device please ensure you have your devices audio settings set up correctly by Selecting Settings -> Audio in the System Menu as per the images below. |
The audio output and input should be set to the headset default as shown below:
If the issue still persists make sure your PC’s input and output are selected to the HTC Vive’s microphone and speaker. This can be done by selecting Settings -> System -> Sound and selecting the Vive multimedia device for both Output and Input. |
If all of these settings have been completed please ensure your browser is allowing microphone access to your system by selecting the permissions tab on the left of your address bar. Both ‘Use the microphone’ and ‘Access Virtual Reality Devices’ should be ‘allowed’. |
