Classroom Management Strategies
Since a major component of using ImmerseMe is speaking practise (there is also writing available), then we recommend these classroom management techniques to getting the most from ImmerseMe:
- Spread your students around the classroom (or corridor/outside) so that they aren't sitting too close to another student and being picked up by their microphone.
- If you have limited space, then number the students 1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2, etc., and get all the 1s to do the speaking mode, whilst all the 2s to do the writing mode.
- If students have access to an external microphone source like a headphone with built-in microphone (that comes with most mobile devices), or bluetooth microphone like AirPods, then these will generally allow the students to be understood a lot more clearly than the microphone built-in to laptops. Some desktops don't have a built-in microphone at all, so would require an external microphone source.
